The photograph to the right is typical of many South American cities. Street children, whom their society cannot or will not look after. The photograph below is a happier picture of some who are being taken care of by a charity called YWAM Bolivia. But even they need help to become educated and re-integrate in society - which is why Switched On did fund raising to enable YWAM Bolivia to set up a computer classroom to teach IT skills.
Behind the obvious problems lies a deeper issue of economic struggle - these boys are on the streets largely because their families could not provide for them. We believe that computers and the Internet can help these street children get better jobs and a better sense of self-worth.
